Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the postural control ability of golfers.
Method: We evaluated the postural control ability of the 18 golfers and compared with the 18 young healthy adults. Postural control ability of participants was evaluated through the Balance Master system. A total of six measurements were analyzed to determine the difference between the study and control group.
Results: Golfers demonstrated weight bearing patterns on the left side, wider area of sway (¡Æ) under conditions (left unilateral stance on firm surface with eye opened) in modified clinical test sensory interaction on balance, high on-axis velocity (¡Æ/sec) in fast front/back and left/right rhythmic weight shift (p<0.05). Wider area of turn sway (¡Æ) during step/quick turn and tandem walk were demonstrated in golfers (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The results showed that golfers were weight bearing patterns on left side and increased on-axis velocity in weight shift. We thought that above findings is associated with golf swing needed rapid weight shift and left lower limbs on axis.
